Staff go inactive?

Have you ever had a staff member go MIA or become inactive? If so, what did you do about it?

I had this happen to me once and it was not a good feeling. Of course, you can't do anything about it.She had 630 posts which is great (most of it on forum games) but she was active. That forum died soon after because people kind a lost interest.

I think members will find it disheartening when staff abandon ship. They won't want to stick around if the staff don't.

It just leaves the forum open for spammers and stuff like that to ruin it and it dies.

That's normal but I am admin and I am constantly there. So, if there is no other staff other than me, that's fine. The community is not that big. I can handle it all. But, as you know, it's hard to work with general discussion forums nowadays.

Yeah I've had plenty go inactive on me, if they don't respond within 30 days I demote them and move on.

Yeah, of course they are demoted but do you feel like "Damn, why this person left? He wanted this position so much and now he abbandoned the post"?

I would try to contact them in any way that I can. I'd do that to make sure they're okay and safe.

You never know what happens to people these days.

If nothing, I would just demote them staff member to protect the backend, send them a PM explaining why, and await a response later on if they come back.

I feel like if you're going to step away for a bit, just tell someone. If the owner/admin are mature enough, they'll understand. We all need to take a break once in a while. Whether you just need a mental health day or you just want to recharge your batteries or whatever it is that you need, just send them a PM. It shows maturity on your part as well.
